We are pleased that the HY.City.Bremerhaven project has won the Bremen Environmental Award 2023, prevailing against 19 competitors.

The Diersch & Schröder Group is a shareholder and, as one of seven partners, a proud part of the HY.City.Bremerhaven consortium. Together, we are taking a decisive step towards climate neutrality, gathering valuable experience, and simultaneously developing sustainable business models. The award is an important milestone for our commitment to sustainability.

The award is a great appreciation of our work in the consortium, which includes GP Joule, Green Fuels, BremerhavenBus, UTG Unabhängige Tanklogistik, Georg Grube Verwaltung, the Seier Group, and the Diersch & Schröder Group. Together, we have developed new, sustainable business models for climate-neutral transport.

HY.City.Bremerhaven is a joint project to establish a hydrogen ecosystem in Bremerhaven to support the transport sector on its path to climate neutrality. Our contribution ranges from initial conception through project planning and business case development to funding acquisition, financing, construction, and ongoing operation of the necessary infrastructure.

The award-winning project includes the construction of a powerful 2-megawatt electrolyzer for sustainable hydrogen production using wind energy. Additionally, a public hydrogen refueling station is being developed in front of the Bremerhaven public transport depot to produce a total of 800 kilograms of green hydrogen per day. This can supply around 35 buses or 200 cars daily with clean fuel – an important step towards sustainable mobility.

The establishment of this infrastructure makes the state of Bremen a best-practice example and showcase location for hydrogen technology. It creates the conditions for investments in vehicles that are not only emission-free but also low in noise and pollutants. This is a particularly important factor for the economy.
